Ugh...my cookie exchange is THIS weekend, and within the past week 2 girls have changed the cookies they are making...its really an inconvenience since I've printed all the recipes for my "recipe book" to send them all home with...and now I've got to take out the ones they WERE making and replace with the new ones...which I have to have by 5:00 today...Do you allow your girls to make last minute changes? Its just sooo aggrivating b/c they've known about this for weeks and then all of a sudden things came up and they ran out of time to make the ones they originally told me they were going to...just curious if this is common and how people handle this! I told them they had to have their recipes to me by the 29th of November, guess I'll just have to stress next year that whatever they submit is what they must bring :-(

Things like that happen. I think as organizers we want everything perfect and this kind of problem stresses us out. But I think, don't worry about it, just use the first ones and if you want to explain that changes were made the last minute and you had this done, that is all you have to say. I wanted to make little books for everyone, but I can't even get my girls to give me the recipes. I always ask for them in my invitations, but out of 12 girls I maybe get 2 or 3 recipes. I don't want to be known as the "Cookie Nazi", so I try to let these things slide and do the best I can and have fun!! Pam W

That is exactly why I don't bother with the recipe books, although in theory it is a great idea. One year I asked that when the gals rsvp'd, if they could let me know what kind of cookie they were making to avoid duplicates...well, let's just say I didn't bother asking again because as you saw, changes are made and it''s out of your control.

I do a recipe book based on recipes from the year before. I saved a file from my original year and just add to it. It is amazing how diverse and different the recipes are. If someone brings a recipe that is already in the book I just ad the year they brought it to the recipe. I only add if ingredients vary. It gives me time to get it together and decreases last minute items to do as I usually do it mid-summer. (Like today.)
