Hi- I'm curious as to why having a theme for your cookie exchange?

The first three years I did a swap I did not do a theme. But, as Robin has pointed out, after a few years all the pictures from your parties start to look alike and themes set them apart. Last year was my first year with a theme and I feel like the ladies got a little more into the spirit.

I choose a theme strictly based on decorations and atmosphere; I don't require my guests to abide by the theme when baking their items. I just like an excuse to have even more fun

I agree, a theme gives me, also, a chance to decorate in a little different way than the year before, just to make it interesting. Also if I choose a theme, I try to incorporate maybe the games or the party favors into that theme. I don't know if my guests even realize that. This year I want to try "T'was the Night before Christmas" and I am going to ask the girls to wear pajamas to the party. I am not sure how they are going to react, some will and some won't. I will make a special prize available to all those that do wear their pajamas.
