I came across this game a few years ago, but rewrote it to apply to Christmas. You wrap a gift numerous times and on each layer of wrapping paper post a rhyme that will give instructions as to who to pass to next. Be sure when you're wrapping that you don't tape your paper to the layer underneath. Below are some rhyme examples to use. Enjoy!
PASS THE PRESENT GAME
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock…. Pass this to a lady without any socks.
Joy to the world, the Lord is come….. Pass this to a lady with chewing gum.
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer Had a very shiny nose Pass this to a lady that is wearing panty hose.
Angels we have heard on high Sweetly singing o’er the plains Pass this to a lady wearing candy canes.
Hark! The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King” Pass this to a lady without a wedding ring.
O little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie! Pass this to the lady sitting two to your right.
Go tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere. Pass this to a lady with silver in her hair.
The first Noel the angels did say Pass this to a lady whose name ends with an “a”.
Away in a manger, No crib for a bed Pass this to a lady wearing a shirt of red.

I love this. I created a few of my own and ended with
"Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Now the game has ended, so don't pass this along. The gift inside is yours to keep, 'cause I'm all out of songs!
Thanks for the idea!!

When looking at the pictures of all your exchanges I saw alot of people playing the REINDEER ANTLER Game. Any one know the rules? Sure! First of all, if you have pantyhose and balloons you're good to go! Have everyone divide equally into teams, where they choose a "captain". That is the person who will wear the antlers. In the time limit you choose, the teams blow up the balloons and stuff them into the pantyhose as fast as they can to make the biggest "rack"! As they race, there WILL be popping of balloons, so be prepared for that. When time runs out, the captain dons the antlers and the team with the biggest, baddest set of antlers wins! For photos, dressing up your captain in a big red nose is super cute! ;D Have fun!

In regard to the reindeer game, how long do you typically give the girls to complete the task? ....I just wasn't sure if I want to put a time limit on them or tell them they need to fill "x" amount of balloons to create the antlers and first team done wins? Just curious

Each guest will get a pen and paper and I'll read "A Visit from St Nick" (aka "Twas the Night Before Christmas") and while I'm reading they'll keep track of how many words are Christmas words, ie "wreath", "reindeer", "sugarplums", "stockings", and when I'm done the person closest to the correct amount of Christmas words wins. (I count 25 words)

Since we have so many attending this year, I have deceided we are going to play take away bingo. Used to play it on xmas a long time ago when I was a kid with my cousins. I just cant remember the rules. LOL I have purchased small inexpensive things from the dollar store and who ever is holding the prize when the time is up will get the prize. You put the prizes in the middle of the table and who ever wins the bingo can take the prize of their choice and when a person wins on the next bingo they have the option of taking away from the other person.

Hey Robin, I used your website last year for my first cookie exchange and it went extremely well. Thanks for the help. I wanted to tell you about a game I made up myself that the ladies enjoyed. First of all you will need to use 'Powerpoint' for the computer. What I did was view online different Christmas movies to find 'stills' or pictures from the movies, (they are everywhere on the web, so it's really easy to find pictures from the movies). Just type in your search browser the name of the movie you want and loads of links pop up. Pick one and copy the picture.
On Slide 1 of powerpoint, I placed a picture from one of the movies. On Slide 2 I typed in the name of the movie from Slide 1. On Slide 3, I placed another picture from one of the movies. On Slide 4, I typed the name of the movie from Slide 3 and so on.
I managed to obtain approximately 50 pictures last year. I divided the ladies into 2 groups and the first group to correctly quess the movie got a point. The group with the most points at the end each got a prize. For this purpose I picked up a container of 144 cookie cutters (total cost $15.00) and each lady got to pick a cookie cutter from the lot.
Now this game does take a little work to put together, but once you get the hang of collecting the pictures it goes really easy.
I also did a second powerpoint game similar to this one which I titled "Holiday Tivia Game" but instead of pictures, I chose to just type on the slides a "quotation" from a movie and you had to quess "what movie is this line from". This is interesting because you can pick any line from any movie, from anywhere in the movies. For example:
If I was to type "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings..." on a slide. The ladies would have to guess the name of the movie. In this case the answer would be "It's a Wonderful Life".
You can make the quotations as easy or as hard as you like, pick lines easily remembered by everyone like the example above or as hard as a little obscured line from somewhere else in the movie. It's totally up to you.
I picked movies for both games that everyone usually knows such as: Frosty the snowman It's a Wonderful Life White Christmas Twas the night before Christmas A Charlie Brown Christmas Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and so on......
The choice of movies is totally up to you.
Now this game does take a little time to put together, and I did it over a few nights while I was watching TV with my husband. But I have to tell you that the ladies had a great time with this one, they were actually screaming and yelling over each other to get the right answers first. Everyone was laughing and eventually crying from laughing so hard with this game. It was well worth the time I put into it.

one year as a party game I played for the first 1 and 1/2 hours the same 5 christmas songs over and over. same songs different singers and arrangements, you'd be surprised how many versions of a song like white christmas there are.. then I turned the music off and told my guest that the same 5 songs had been playing over and over name the titles. It was harder than they thought!! great game.

I tend to like games with movement. Its not school and i don't enjoy the whole trivia write/ match etc. Also I like team games as it encourages mingling. Christmas charades is fun. Also A christmas version of Pictionary, using large easel pad for drawing. I've done name that christmas tune. bonus points for name the singer too. Name the hoilday personality. name the movie, name the quote. Lets make a deal. (works better with smaller groups) we did a very fun relay game of tying the apron on your team mate, it goes like this, make 2 teams, one person each team puts on apron, next person is wearing oven mitts and must tie the apron on the team mate wearing it. then pass it down until everyone has both worn and tied one on!!! alot harder than you'd think.

I got tired of the "Don't Say Cookie" game and came up with this idea: As participants come in, give them a candy cane and a name tag with the name of the cookie they prepared. From that point on, their name is the name of their cookie. If anyone calls them by their real name, they lose their candy cane to whomever catches it.
It was so much fun! Some people seemed to always call others by their real name, but newcomers never learn the real name so when they encounter each other in public, they call each other "Peppermint Patty" or "Almond Sugar Cookie!" The winner, as usual, is the one who has the most candy canes at the end of the event. Please enjoy! ;D LeAnne
