I'm having my first cookie party on the 16th and am still undecided what to serve for drinks. I have the appetizer menu all set but can't decide whether to serve coffee (it's an afternoon party) with Irish creme and hot apple cider or a cold punch....I thought about a wine punch and offering beer as well, but everyone will be driving several miles to my party. How many different beverages do most of you provide? I'd really appreciate some suggestions. Thanks!

I have an evening party...26 guests this year...7-10pm.. First 1/2 hour are guests arriving, getting everyone with nametags on, having them set out and label their sharing cookie plate...Then about an hour of games/appetizers... We exchange around 9 and most are gone by 10. I'll include more info other than drinks to get a background: Appetizers I have are: cheese dip/crackers deli spirals bacon wrapped filet mignon chips/nuts/m&ms For drinks: spiked punch (lemonade, cranberry cocktail, 7up, vodka) Water Pop I dont do coffee--noone's ever asked either ... The spiked punch is the hit of the party and there is never any left

I had my first cookie exchange today, and I served Peppermint Punch. It was a huge hit, and people went back for 3rds and 4ths. It's quite sweet, and almost like a milkshake, but I will make it every single year from now on.
Here's the recipe I got from Allrecipes.
INGREDIENTS 1 quart peppermint ice cream 1 quart eggnog 4 (12 fluid ounce) cans or bottles ginger ale, chilled 1 cup rum (optional) 24 small peppermint candy canes for garnish
DIRECTIONS Set aside 2 or 3 round scoops of ice cream in the freezer for garnish. Stir remaining ice cream until softened. Gradually stir in eggnog and rum. Transfer to a punch bowl, and stir in ginger ale. Hang candy canes around the edge of the punchbowl. Float reserved ice cream scoops on top, and serve immediately

I always serve a hot cider (which is always a hit) and a variety of soda and water. I usually have my coffee pot set up and then ask if anyone wants coffee. I have to say no one ever does. But that's my crowd and like I said you can always just have it ready to go.
I don't usually serve alcohol when I do my exchanges but last year the exchange I attended was in the evening and she had a martini bar set up (with a bartender making the drinks).

Wow, I bet it makes a pretty presentation, too! Thanks for the recipe.

I had my party on Dec. 16th and for beverages I ended up serving a cranberry champagne punch, sodas, and coffee with optional Bailey's. Few drank the coffee but several ladies tried the Bailey's by itself on ice! I think the hot cider sounds good and will try that next time.

I made some fun cookie themed cocktails last year. They have some great drink recipes on Foodnetwork.com. I also provide wine, soda and water.

Last year I had sparkling juices for the non drinkers and for the drinkers I had a Balitore Asti Spumante pink champagne...the ladies went crazy over it..in fact I ran out of it before the end of the party...so I will be purchasing more this year. The sparkling juices were really not a hit so this year I will stick to the soda.

A friend and I will be hosting our 1st cookie exchange on Dec 13th. We're looking for some drink recipies, especially holiday related (red or green) martini recipies. While we were doing "research" looking through photos of other peoples cookie exchanges, lots of parties involved holiday martinis. All of our friends love martinis and we would really like to incorporate this into our exchange. Any ideas for a yummy red or green beverage would be appreciated!!
Thanks, Sue New Jersey

My son was telling me about a Christmas theme drink to possibly have at my party called a Peppermint Patty. When looking at this site they had numerous holiday drinks. They had an Appletini that was green... good link, take a look at the site.. www.drinknation.com/drink/Peppermint-Pattythere's also www.drinksmixer.com/

I usually have many different cocktails to choose from, coffee and tea (always have this in the Pacific NW--lol!), hot chocolate and some sort of punch. This is my big holiday party so I tend to go all out!

I had my 2nd cookie exchange in December. I served a nonalcoholic mojito. For the drinkers I had alcohol on the side to put in. they were pretty and festive looking. Everyone enjoyed them. I know this is kind of late in responding but only 5 more months until the next cookie exchange.

I ran last year's exchange at work. We had 7 bakers. I brought eggnog (commercial, full fat) and made our own pot of coffee for the conference room.
I was the only one who drank the eggnog -- mainly because I did not provide any alcohol to spike it. (hey it was during work hours!)
The coffee was a big hit and a couple brought tea or water for themselves.
any other ideas (hot or cold, and w/o alcohol to be safe) always appreciated.

Peppermint Ice Cream punch sounds YUMMY indeed!!
My question -- I don't recall ever seeing peppermint ice cream in the store -- does anyone know of a specific brand and/or grocery store that sells it?

I tried serving egg nog at several parties and no one ever touched it. Too filling, I guess. My girls go for the white wine and specialty drinks as that goes well with the types of appetizers I serve.
