Remember those little socks with tiny pom-poms on back to hold socks up? I loved those, except for when the poms finally tore off and the socks crept back under my foot. Also, large homemade pop-poms on my roller skates. Also, lots of uncomfortable polyester pants and shirts. Gave me a prickly heat rash. Loved my brown corderoys and striped shirts. And flip-flops. Anybody still have there old leather belts...you know...the ones with our names on the back??? I thought those were cool. Leotards, knee high socks, mini skirts and go-go boots. Mini-dresses, too. Tunic tops, and macrame hemp necklaces. I wore my hair long and ironed it with a flat clothes iron between wax paper. And then flipped it behind my ears. Used Mayo to condition it with and rinsed with beer. Cream blue or green eyeshadow. And white lip stick.

I was a kid in the 70's (born in 1972). I wore flared corduroy pants -- brown or dark blue. Velour shirts in the winter. or t-shirts (Jaws, Bad News Bears, Muppets, etc..) in the summer.

Um...well, to be "frank", um, my fave 70's garb was...um, nothing!! You see, I remember being at my physical best, and, um, well, I, um, let it all hang out quite a bit... ;D Okay, okay, I was no nudist or anything, but I wasn't shy, either. ;D And, of course, the 70s was when, well, I "came of age"! (no pun intended, seriously!)

I loved wearing my terry cloth shorts, my "Babe" t--shirt, my Dr. Scholl's, gouchos, cowl necks with pins, boots, swedish clogs, polyester shirts with big collars, my brown bikini(which would be in style today). Remember Sarah Coventry jewelry? I wore alot of turqoise rings, bonne bell, tickle anti-perspirant, herbal essance shampoo(which smelled really good back then). On Tap shampoo, rinsing my hair with vinegar or beer, colorful striped socks with toesies, Village (lotion and lip balm). As far as perfume or cologne goes, we didn't have the choice like we do today. I loved Halston on some people but not on me. I wore Oscar de la renta, musk oil(but sometimes it got to be too much, people wore it because it was supposed to attract the opposite sex, but I think it did the opposite(also depending on who wore it), and Charlie cologne. I believe clinique products came out in the late 70's and it was considered a big deal.( clinique toner- it never did clear up my pimples and it made my skin dry at the same time!weird! but we were told it was the best product to use( I think it was the only product!) Again, we didn't have that many choices or the knowledge that we have today.

I totally forgot toe socks until I read one of these posts! Let's see...I had a pair of white hiphuggers I wore in 73 or 74, and I loved peasant and baby doll type shirts. And I used to buy brown flat sandals at Kinneys to wear in warm weather. And does anybody remember the fad for footed one piece PJs? And hoodies! I remember wearing those in 75 when I started high school. And Eau de Love cologne, and the Coty Sweet Earth compacts.
Does anybody remember eyeshadow that came in a compact with a stick that looked like a lollypop? I'm sure it came in blue and green, but I'm not sure who made it. And cream eyeshadow - didn't last long on my oily eyelids!
Seems like it was a thousand years ago with all the changes since then!

I had a pair of white elephant Bells. HUGE bell bottoms. They buttoned up the front, each side near the hip. Flap Style. They has cuffs, I wore them once to a parade. My Mom had a hard time cleaning them. She called them Street Sweepers and I didn't ever wear them again. I do have a picture of me taken that day, what was I thinking??? I wore them with navy & white baby doll top.

Mostly I remember being barefoot most of the summer. The crowd I hung with were T-Shirt, jeans and barefoot kids. Went the entire summer I was 16 (1972) shoe-less.
The teachers even overlooked us not wearing shoes the last few days of class in June.
Today I guess kids look at going barefoot in public as gross. But with us it was a "style" and comfort thing, too.

Jeans or cutoffs. T-shirts - or no shirt a lot of the time. Bare feet - all the time except when we were in class (we were allowed to do phys ed barefoot, too). We went everywhere and did everything barefoot. Happy times.

I was in college then, and wore hip hugger bell bottoms most days, along with halter tops or shirts tied up above the midriff. Showing my belly button automatically raised eyebrows in general and scandalized my parents in particular, so of course, that was the look that I went for. Rock concert T-shirts were also very cool!

We used to go the Goodwill or Army surplus stores and buy old army jackets or police jackets, and old ladies black lace up shoes. We wore these with bell bottoms and t shirts. Our hair was long and straight or we wrapped them wet in rags and left to dry and the next day or later that night we had what looked like dreads. Top that off with a military hat and leather hobo bag. Ahhh....what a cool bunch we thought we were.

I remember getting my big bell bottoms caught in my bicycle chain and tearing a chunk out of them - more than once! Those big elephant bell jeans, hip huggers with a tight silky satin top and a white riveted leather belt with my baby blue platform shoes. Those were the days!!!
I've got a disco theme party I'm going to this summer and I can't wait. My boyfriend scored an awesome outfit from DressThatMan.com - all real 70's stuff and unworn.
Too bad they don't carry womens 70's clothing - I'm still looking for some bell bottom hip hugger jeans. Lucky me I kept the shoes from my heyday. ;D

These blue nylon fabric Keds with these red accents on them that we got from the shoe store. Then, then when I got older: the white high-top PUMAS I'd get from K-Mart for school every year. Always worn with Corduroys, which I also miss wearing.

As far as necklaces: my puka shell necklace.
