I am hosting a cookie exchange as an Open House beginning at 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon and going into the evening with up to 30 women attending throughout the evening.
Since this is an Open House with food and drink throughout the party............how do I time the cookie exchange? I am going to suggest to those that have to leave before the exchange that if they leave their containers, someone will do the exchange for them.
Each lady will be bringing their cookies and a container to take their "exchanges" home with them.
Any suggestions on how to make this a successful and unstressful event would be helpful.

That's a tough one. I would give people a schedule of the events. For example:
cocktails/buffet starting at 4 games, prizes at 5 judging at 6, exchange at 630, etc...
Something to that effect, people can drop off cookies early and show up later for exchange.
I would also poll my friends and ask them what times work well for them? Hope this helps!

I am going to suggest to those that have to leave before the exchange that if they leave their containers, someone will do the exchange for them. That could be chaotic. If you know several will be leaving sooner than later, consider doing the swap earlier into the party. If you're going to swap for others, this is how I do it: I'll sneak into the dining room alone, while the party is going on in the other rooms and fill their containers and then hide them so they don't get lost in the shuffle after the group enters the room. It only takes a up to 5 minutes. You really can't take cookies for more than one person during the group swap, because you only have 2 hands. One to hold the tray, the other to pick up cookies.
