i have searched and searched online to no avail. when i was in school, somewhere between 7th and 9th grade (1977-1979) i had a pair of open type sandals. there were different styles but the big deal was this oblong type hole that went thru the heel. the heel/soal was made of a fairly flexible type rubber substance. i always remembered them being calle "donuts" but i cant find these shoes ANYWHERE! they were super popular. anyone have any idea?? if so drop me a line. thanks!

Some platform shoes had holes in the (wooden) heels. I don't remember anything that matches that description.
