I am trying to double a cookie exchange party with a tea party over the winter holiday. Does anyone have any experience/ideas? I don't want either of them to be overshadowed by the other...but this seems like a great way to do both.
Also, I would like each guest to bring only 1/2 dozen cookies per guest. Many of my guests will be young students without children, so they won't need to take home so many cookies. Does this work? This will be my first party. Thanks.

Hi Layn, I have actually done a tea party/cookie exchange 2 times already. It really is a great way to so both and SO SO much fun, the guests are always so impressed with enjoying a tea party and being able to exchang cookies adds to the fun. I would recommend requesting either a dozen cookies or even 2 dozen since they will probably have enough dough for more than 6 cookies. How ever you decide I'm sure it will be a great sucess. Candy Cane and Gingerbread teas are real winners that time of year.

Hi, I'm also hosting my first Tea Party/Cookie Exchange this year! It's in Dec because that's my entertaining month. I've been buying little things here and there as far as raffle gifts, and items for gift bags. Personal Infusion Pots(hsn.com) and journals (Ross) are great raffle prizes. I also love the flower teas, so I'm adding those to the goody bags along with specialty candies, and sweet smelling mini body butters. Since it's a Tea Party everything will be finger foods, and my guest are asked to bring 3 dozen cookies to swap.
I've also added games and a door prize for the "second" guest, since the first will be the first to pick their cookies. Oh, and tea name tags(you have to call the person by the name on their tag), and I found some doozies. This game is similar to the clothes pin baby shower game.
It's so busy around this time of year, so I just wanted to do something to get all my sister girls together to have a good time and just be.
