I have been on the shelf for around 20 years due to a hernia and 3 knee operations. I am now getting back to bowling again however I don't have the same zip I used to have. In all of my games back my first game is in the 130-140 range. Hitting the pocket and picking up the 1 pin spare. 2nd and 3rd games I lose my groove and average between 95-109 each and every time I go out.
Can someone make a suggestion as to what I am thinking is a mechanics problem. I tried to ask my old friends who still bowl but the seem not to want to awakin a sleeping monster as I was in my earlier years.
Any help fixing my non-performance would be appreciated.
Thanks and have a good year.

Tough to say without seeing you bowl, but my guess would be that it's a timing issue. I'm mostly a candlepin bowler with some duckpins on the side, but in both candlepins and ducks, the biggest issue seems to be getting out of the way and letting the ball do the work. With your knee/hernia issues, you could probably benefit from letting gravity do as much of it as possible. Swing it straight back and straight through -- keep it simple!
