Our theme is Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! My daughter chose the theme because she decided that, since she and I both bake cookies, this year while I make people cookies she will make puppy treats for everyone to take home to their pets. Luckily, it is also Peanuts 60th Anniversary so thus far it has not been an issue finding theme related items.
So what is everyone else doing for their theme?

For those that use a "Gingerbread" theme, any ideas you could share with me? I would like to use that one this year and I need some help. Thanks, Pam

I'm doing "A Candy Filled Christmas" with cookies that incorporate candy somehow. It's my first cookie exchange, so I'm excited!!

I'm just sticking with the general Christmas cookie theme...however I'm allowing bars and candies in the mix too - I don't discriminate against baked goods - they're all welcome in my tummy We're also going to have an ornament swap - each guest will bring a wrapped ornament...I'll eventually figure out some sort of game to go along with this. My family isn't big on games, so it'll have to be something simple, but fun. This will be my first cookie exchange, so wish me luck!!

I love the pet treats idea! And the "candy filled" cookies idea!
I, too, am doing an "ugly Christmas sweater" contest. We usually do a "Best Christmas Attire", but are nixing it to do the sweater contest. We're also nixing the "Prettiest Cookie" award, for the "Kid's Choice" cookie award, where the cookies will be judged by 6 kids of various ages.

I am hosting my second "bedazzled sugarplum exchange". Everyone is asked to bring 8 wrapped portions of their favorite confection, as well as a portion to share. They are also asked to wear their tackiest Christmas sweater. I had about 40 people last year. I made a holiday bingo game and awarded prizes for winning and the best sweaters. It was a huge success.

I am doing gingerbread man theme this year. My invites have 2 gingerbread men that you open up to get to the details of the invite. I am in the process of making my road signs (joys of living in the boondocks) which are foam boards that I drew a very large gingerbread man on with an arrow pointing the way. For the right left game I am crocheting small gingerbread men ornimetns, small ice skates ornaments, and small hats and mittens pins. Of course me cookies to contribute is gmen. I have variouse gmen decorations that I always use.

Pookie, can you share photos of your gingerbread signs after your party? I know the newsletter would love that. Lots of people do the gingerbread theme. Thanks!

I sure can. They were super easy to make....I traced my cookie cutter on graph paper then made grids on the foam board and drew it. I made a large paper template of it to use on the other boards so I would not have to free hand it again and again and again. My party is Dec 4 so after that I will send you some pics.

I am also making 'milk cartons' to package my cookies up into. The carton is large (will hold 6 cookies) and has MILK on the side with MISSING Have you seem me? and a pic of gingy man... ' Last seen on the cooling rack in the kitchen' They are super cute and should be worth a giggle.

I'm going to do something along the lines of Grinch...I just LOVE whoville's chirstmas spirit so its going to be "How the Grinch stole...cookies!"--I'm not sure the theme will directly effect the bakers choice in cookies (so far based in submissions it hasn't lol), but it will be my inspiration for the decor and such. I'd love to come up with a game...perhaps the left to right can be modified if I have time to write one up! And if I can get my hands on "grinch gloves" that would be fun for the unwrapping game...and of course, Max (Grinch's dog) is the inspiration for my reindeer antler game :-)

Kate that is a great theme. I have seen cookie cutter that look like abite has been taken out of the cookie. That would be a hoot for that theme. Someone stole bites out of the cookies!

Milk carton... I started out with the template from this site: www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/templates.htmThen expanded it to be 4x4 base. I found some cardstock paper that is 12x18 and made a template on my computer for the size. I added word art MILK and some red bars. and the missing Have you seen me? to the other 2 sides. I printed them off cut them out and folded/glued them up.
