I'm just curious as to what type of music some of you like to play in the background for your Holiday-themed Cookie Exchange parties - do you like your music to be large part of your festivities, or do you just have something to fill those awkward silences while people are munching on goodies? (Forgive me if this has already been asked - I tried searching, but nothing ever was returned on the topic of music!)

I can't vote since I'm not a registered user :-)
But, I'm going to use pandora most likely this year. Last year I just made a playlist on my Ipod and had that going in the background. I like to mix it up between the classics like Frank Sinatra and newer ones like Mariah Carey.

We have TONS of music on the computer. Hubby made me a play list of some great song and made sure some songs were repeated several times (like Marshmallow World, and Chirstmas Cookies). The play list is long and upbeat - good party music to be playing in the background. Actually I don't think anyone even notices the music, but I like to have it.

My prefferred was not on there, I set up a playlist, 20 minutes of easy listening christmas music, piano i.e Lorie Line, Kenny G etc, move into to an hour of classics nat, bing, etc. rounding out the evening with up beat christmas party music, jingle jive, all your favs, but on the party up beat. one year as a party game I played for the first 1 and 1/2 hours the same 5 christmas songs over and over. same songs different singings and aarrangements you'd be surprised how many versions of a song like white christmas there are.. then I turned the music off and told my guest that the same 5 songs had been playing over and over name the titles. It was harder than they thought!! great game.
