ok I finished my road signs last night for the most part. I want to go over the outlines one more time with black marker so they stand out. These are foam board (poster board sized) road signs that I made. I used my cookie cutter and traced it onto graph paper. I then marked off a bigger grid on the graph paper to make it easier on me since the graphic was pretty general. I then lightly made the same number of grid marks on the poster board and drew the Gignerbread man accordingly. Since it is semitrical I only had to draw (free hand) 1/2 of it. Once I got the shape to my liking I taped pieces of paper together and traced it to make a template. On the rest of the poster boards I only had to draw a center line. I used the template to trace around 1/2 of the graphic then flipped ot over to trace the other half (right/left). I went over the outlines with a black sharpie. I used simple inexpensive craft paints to color it in (2 coats). I used marker for the arrows (just so happens all the turns are right turns!). I do need to spray them with a sealer so they hold up in the potential weather. Not perfect by no means but who is going to notice while you are driving???

Those are so cute. I was thinking how cute one would be in front of the location I am holding my exchange seeing this is my first exchange. Thank you for such a great and cute idea.

That is really cute, thanks for sharing. I am having gingerbread as my theme, and I might just make one to have outside my front door. Cute, cute, cute!!!

Pookie - once again, the cuteness factor is high!! These look great! I might have to borrow the idea for my party (this weekend - eek!!) Our house is super-easy to find, but this guy is too cute! He'd look nice posted by my mailbox, I think. Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks so much for the cute idea. All my attendees know where I live, so I didn't use it as a directional sign, but as a welcome sign. I too, used Gingerbread Men for my theme. I asked my husband to make a sign and showed him your pictures. I guess he had a lot of time and ideas to put into it, and he made me this welcome sign. It is so cute and we will use it until it wears out. Thanks so much, Pam W Attachments:
