I am not sure how to send cookies home with my guests. I would like to provide them with something, but really can't afford to buy a new tin for each person. Each guest will probably only be taking home 3 dozen cookies, so what do you think abou those decorated cello bags?

I always ask the girls to bring containers with. Usually they have one because they brought their cookies in one, and they just take it back with cookies in it. Some of my attendees prepackage their cookies. I always say it is entirely up to them, whether to prepackage or just put in a container. It works well. Good Luck, Pam

I always have my guests bring thier cookies pre-packaged. I supply a reusable grocery bag that I pick up at the store (big ones like from Wegmans) for each guest to pack their loot up in to take home.

I purchase decorated cello bags, one for each type of cookie, some complain several years ago they did not like to mix their cookies-flavors mixing. I provide white craft bags to place their cello bags to take home. It gets expensive year after year.

I have always had my quests ring decorated containers to take home their cookies in. This year was the first year I had complaints about mingling cookies so next year we are looking at plastic bags and having everyone divide up their cookies at the party once we know how many will be in attendance. I would love everyone to do it beforehand but not everyone RSVP's making it difficult to know how many to prepackage. Like you, I am still looking for the best procedure.

I purchase white handled craft bags using coupons for craft store I get them fairly cheap. Then I go to the dollar store and purchase foam stick on to match the theme I am doing for the party and let them decorate the bags. I have my guest wrap 3 cookies to a package and bring their decorated cookie tray w/ 1/2 dozen cookies for judging. When they present their tray to the group I have a person go around and hand out the pre packaged cookies and they put them in their decorated bags.

I provide boxes for each person and I line each box with a sheet of waxed paper or parchment paper. The boxes I use are apparel gift boxes - probably the size you'd wrap a robe in. I think they're 14 x 18 x4. They work great because there's plenty of room for cookies to be spread out since not all types of cookies can be stacked on top of each other. I also provide markers so each guest can write her name on her box since they all look alike. The boxes aren't very expensive. I usually buy mine at the after-Christmas sale at Walmart so I have them for the next year's cookie exchange. Since they come folded up and flat they're easy to store until I need them.

A way to separate the cookies is with cupcake papers.

Hey, that's a GREAT idea! I would never have thought of that! I may have to give that a try this year!

I have each attendee bring their cookies in individual sandwich size Ziploc baggies. They bring 1/2 dozen per person and 1 dozen to share the night of the exchange. I then take the Ziploc bags for each person and put them into a re-usable Christmas gift bag (that has handles) with tissue paper. That way, it looks like a gift

I have done a lot of different things for the ladies to take gifts home, but what I found that has worked for the past 2 years is an aluminum throw away pan (small roasting pan) and then I provide zip loc bags for people if they want to individually bag cookies. It works great.

In the past, I purchased large sheet cake cardboard boxes from my local bakery (I even get the sturdy cardboard insert piece for more stability) for my guests. I, myself, wondered what would work best when you have multiple bags, platters, trays, plates, etc. and are trying to juggle everything on your way to the car.
Even if my guests brought their cookies already packaged, we were still able to fit everything "as packaged" in one box (we usually have 8-10 varieties). The clear cellophane "window" on the box lid allows you to see what's inside, while the goodies are still covered. Just lift the lid and take your pick. The last thing you want is to drop, break or spill the fragile goodies - - (This unfortunately happened one year - cookies all over the driveway -oh no!!).
I have my 3 little girls decorate the cake box with holiday stickers and designs. They loved "helping" out - - young CE'ers in training!
By the way, cardboard boxes are biodegradable and recyclable.

I usually get the large christmas gift bags once they are clearanced after the holidays. I usually can find them at 80-90% off. I didn't get to do that last year. I just found recycled shopping bags at Sam's Club that are black and white fancy designs. They come 2 to a pack for about $3.
The ladies bring their cookies pre-packaged 6 to a pack and we vote on the best decorated packages.

I buy cases of bottled water. They come in sturdy cardboard bases. I save these then line them in leftover christmas wrapping paper. They're perfect to take home your cookies!

I just picked up packages of 4 blouse boxes from Target for $2 each; they have the cutest design on them and are just the right size for the amount of cookies we'll have. I'll have gift tags on hand as well for the ladies to label their goodies so we don't have any thieves
