You do not have to post anything if that is your option. You already proved to me that the cost of duckpins is outrageous by sending white oak lanes prices. If your league bowlers only pay $2.00 game, than your bowling center would be the cheapest in the country. You really need to check out some of the RI/CT/MA web pages and you will find out that some centers operate by lane rental only and that charge is $18-$22 hr. As far as the behavior of duckpinners, I mentioned how bad it was in the 80"s and 90's, yeah sure alot those guys grew up. (most of us are in our late 40's, 50's, and 60's now in 2011) but my point is that the damage was done back in the 80's and 90's. Younger people back then and now wouldn't want to bowl with a bunch of adults acting like rogue kids. Robin you cannot judge the sport by staying at your local lanes. I have been all over the duckpin country back in the 80's and 90's. You need to watch a few men's leagues at other bowling centers and than maybe you'll catch my drift or maybe the bowlers in mid-atlantic or south are more hospitable. Finally in this economy, I still believe the price of bowling is way out of line as far as entertainment cost per hour. 2 people could spend $30 hr for bowling with shoe rental. 2 people could go to movies for $30 with popcorn/drinks and get 2.5 hours entertainment. A game room for 2 people would be less than $30 hr. You could take your kids to McD's and spend $20-$25 hr. Mini-golf would be under $20 hr for 2 people. Pool halls (extremely popular with teens and young people) would be $8-$14 hr for 2 people. Video games, home entertainment, laser games, paintball are ALL still less than $30 for 2 people. Heck I could get 2 cheap seats to a NASCAR race for $80 but 2 people would get 4 HOURS of entertainment, still cheaper than bowling!!!! Now maybe you'll understand why the sport of duckpins is dying!!
