Cookies around the world sounds like a lot of fun. Can you give me some more details how you work on that? My background is German so I always bake german cookies for our party and everyone loves them. But I don't know what else to do to make it more "international"

This will be my 2nd party, last year we did House Divias and we had a blast with 6 girls. This year I started earlier and my theme will be "Gingerbread Man". I plan to do a game taking a life size Gingerbread man through 2 towns and taking pictures of him. Guest have to figure out where the Gingerbread man has been before he returns to the party. All will be done through email for a month. I am sending 80 invitations out hoping to get a good group. We have rented a my girl friends Club House. Lots of home made gifts in the works. Response is going good. Word got out from last year. Amazing how many people don't and won't bake. Thanks for this site.

This is my 7th cookie exchange. Each year it has gotten larger and more elaborate. It is amazing how it has grown. If you are new to the cookie exchange just have fun with it and don't worry it will be great.
Some of my themes have been: Hollywood/Award Winning Cookies, Peace Love and Cookies and this year is Princesses. Each year my girls decorate their platter according to the theme and they dress for the occassion. We have a lot of fun.
My main rule about the cookie exchange is that your recipe must be in a week before my party. This is because I make a cookbook for everyone that participates. It is something they all look forward to.

I'm doing Victorian Christmas this year, since my house is a 1850 farmhouse. Why I didn't do that my first year here is beyond me, but we were busy getting the house set up. My first swap was an impromtu one because my company didn't do a Christmas party, so there was no theme. Lots of searching on Robin's site to get ideas and learn about the swap, though. Then I did Winter Wonderland our first year in the house since the tree is blue and silver. And last year was Mardi Gras which was the best yet. Everyone loved it and had a blast. I do girls and guys at my party since some of the guys are more cooks/bakers than the girls. I can't wait for this year's party and I'm glad I've pre-planned a lot since school is getting busy and I don't have time to put into all the research right now. Although if anyone has ideas about a prize for trivia, please let me know.

My theme this year is "Happy Birthday, Donny Osmond!!!!". For WHATEVER reason, I have never forgotten this specail birthday from when I was a young girl watching the Donny & Marie Show. My 9th Annual Cookie Exchange happens to fall on December 9, Donny's birthday. So, I'm "themeing it out" with PURPLE EVERYTHING...including purple socks as give aways. Some of the younger crowd may not appreciate it as much...but those of us born in the 70s will certainly remember and understand.

Hawai'i No Ka Oi (Theres no place like Hawaii). partycity.com and orientaltrading.com have great stuff for a luau (feast). You can serve pu pus (finger food) like teriyaki chicken and things made with coconut and pineapple. Great guests with an Aloha and a lei and one of your games could be limbo.

My actual cookie swap doesn't have a theme, but at the party we started to do an ornament exchange and I have a theme for that each year. Past themes were "Snow" and "Winter Wonderland." This year's theme is "Silver Bells" - think silver, bells, or anything else creative:)

It wasn't even on my prior lists but this year's theme is BAZINGA: A Big Bang Christmas. Decor is geeky as are the gifts and games. Have already been planning and there is so much to incorporate. Comics, video games, wine, kitties, superheros, science...it will be too much fun. Despite it being June I have already been shopping and found hand soap for favors at BBB for $1.00 each plus used coupons. A very Sheldony type gift. My game prizes will be based on the other characters such as a bottle of wine from Penny, gourmet cook book from Raj, etc. (Luckily many of these will be regift items as I don't drink but people continually give me wine!?) Now I just need to find the perfect cookie to bake.

Or something old-timey...maybe a general Christmas Nostalgia theme and every one can do their own thing around that. Hmm. Hard to believe it's time to really crack down and get to planning!
