There are a few public duckpin centres left in Pittsburgh. I think the best one to try is Glassport, they were completely rebuilt after being destroyed by fire, 10 lanes. Dormont converted their four lanes to tenpin and Clairton closed. There is one other place that is seven lanes and still has pinboys, cannot recall the name it right now. Hope this helps.

Yes, I threw some games on the duckpin lanes in Dormont several years ago as well as the old Village Lanes which I believe they converted to tenpin. I have not bowler in Glassport only visited the house before they had the fire, there was a league bowling and they took up all of the lanes. The pinboy house I also visited, I was looking to purchase some duckpin balls, I collect them, same thing a league was on. Very unusual centre if memory serves me, seven lanes.

Anyone keeping historical track of the lanes in western PA, and NE Ohio? Looks like there were lanes in Conneaut Lake, PA. Found a mention online that the park gave the historical society a duck pin. There were also lanes in conneaut and Ashtabula, OH. and Oil City, PA And there are still lanes in Erie, PA some private club. A German club...

I remember someone keeping a list of the 7 or so lanes still operating in western PA. I also remember an article about a night club possibly reopening, which included duckpin bowling. Can't remember which were rubber band and which were not...

Lets add the Oil City Knights of Columbus. I just found online that a church has Wed and Thurs night leagues at a duck pin bowling alley. Says nothing about rubber bands... ----------- Also found online: www.15122.com/DRAVOSBURGHISTORY/boysclub.htm"The duck pin league bowled first at the Capital Bowling Alleys then later at the YMCA lanes both in McKeesport. One of the highlights for the bowling league occurred with the league entered a team in the American Bowling Congress's National Tournament. " --------- Also looks like Youngstown, OH had lanes...

All duckpin lanes in Pennsylvania with the notable exception of one house in Gettsyburg are of the rubberband variety. It is notable that in Cumberland, MD there is one duckpin house now, it having the rubberband version.

There were two houses in Cumberland, one called Capital which has been torn down, I managed to visit bowled a game and bought some balls. The other place is called Diamond Alleys, it is right down the street from the one that is gone. As far as I know, it still has pinboys and they are not normally open for public bowling but you could give them a call. I believe they were only open between Oct and Apr.

Hello- regarding the rubberband duckpin lanes in Pittsburgh, I know the guy who runs the 7 lane house in pittsburgh. Its located in Carrick. The guys name is Dave Monniger the phone number is 412-881-9632. The place is called Carrick Recreation. Its a very cool place. Its like being in a time warp. He has pin setters. My 13 yr old son is one of them. I'm a filmmaker trying to put a documentary together about rubberband duckpins. Anyone with history of, accounts, pics, videos, etc. could email me. uralien@juno.com

In an attempt to try to describe duckpin (rubber band) bowling to my daughter-in-law I came across this site. Back in the early 50's I was a young man setting up pins in an alley on Brookline Blvd (in Brookline, of course). My large hands allowed me to handle three pins in each hand and therefore I could "hop alleys" (earing twice as much money.
A lot of memories flooded back when I found this site and began remembering those days.

I'm presently the secretary of a duckpin bowling league in Butler, Pa. The alleys are located in the Knights of Columbus basement and they have 6 lanes and automatic pinsetters using strings to reset the pins. The building is presently up for sale so we may not have the alleys in the future. Our league has been in existance since at least the 1970's. To my knowledge they have leagues on at least 3 other nights of the week. I'm interested in finding if any other leagues in the Tri-state area have the same type of pinsetters that we have and if they have any information pertaining to a source that does any type of repairs on this type of pinsetters. My e-mail address is jbaccanti2@zoominternet.net. I'd also be glad to answer any questions concerning our league.

I didn't see mention of a bowling alley at the Knights of Columbus, Bellevue, PA on Lincoln Ave. They have a league that bowls there on Wednesday nights and always have 4 other open lanes during that time. They do open for parties. the Phone number is (412) 761-8370.

I was born and raised in McKeesport and remember these lanes. Versailles firehall had 10 lanes aove their main hall and of course there was Palley Lanes in downtown Mckeesport that had 20 duckpin lanes. Palley lanes closed sometime in the early 1980's and when they did many were not happy due to the fact that the place still had many good leagues. The bowling alley in Glassport had option 10-pin or duck pin and I dont know if they still offer the option.
My father was a big time duck pin bowler in the 1950's and 1960's. His team would travel throughout the NE US for tournament play. His league average at one time was 195 for duck pins.

Freddy,
I'm not sure what makes you conclude that, but Games N'At does indeed have four duck pin lanes.
