Hello Cookie Exchange ladies. I'm having my 4th Cookie Exchange (12/10) and a couple of the ladies asked me how many cookies they would need to bring. Well I told them 13 dozen and their response was I can't make that many and wouldn't use that many. I told them to go buy them at a bakery/grocery bakery and to share them with the homeless. I have my invitations already done with the 13 dozen on them, but if you CE ladies think I should change to 1/2 dozen I will make another invitation. They thought the same thing last year and it was 1/2 dozen but most of the ladies did make 1 dozen. It has become such a hassle (I love doing it)but with some medical issues I have decided to take a Cookie Exchange break after 2011. I'm lucky that it's only 2 PIA's out of 13, but it does put a damper on the whole idea of the day. The funny thing is they all enjoy themselves when they come. Thank you for your thoughts

I have 10 - 12 ladies each year and I have them make 4 dozen, thats usually 2 batches of most recipes. They won't get a dozen of each cookie, but will still go home with quite a few cookies.

I don't have my guests make nearly as many as most others do - it just isn't practical for us! Last year they made about 4 dozen each and that was more than enough.
I don't have a large group, though...if I had more, I'd probably encourage a larger amount. I know 13 dozen seems like a lot of cookies, but when you consider that each recipe usually makes about 2-3 dozen depending on the size of the cookie, it's really not that bad!

Hello everyone. Just found this site, and there is soo much usefull information on here. How exciting. I will soon be hosting my 5th or 6th CE (can't even remember right now). I have always done it like this. However many people there are, that's how many dozen cookies you bring. So, if there are 10 ladies, each would bring 10 doz of the same cookie, then they leave with 10 doz different cookies. Making it imparative that I know how many are coming so it's fair to everyone. I see some people say bring X dozen, regardless of how many people are there. IM not understanding how that works. Can someone please tell me some other ways to do this, and how it works? Thanks so much

At my exchange we'll bring 4 dozen each, of which some will get eaten/tested that night. Then, we'll each take our containers (or use the ziplock bags I'll provide) and go around the table several times to pick approximately 3 dozen each to take home. It doesn't matter how many people you have... if there's more people you'll have less of each type, but more variety. If you have a smaller amount of people you'll bring home a larger amount of a smaller variety. Regardless, each of my guests will still bring home approximately 3 dozen cookies.
