I've never had a cookie exchange party, but I have been wanting to for the past several years. So this year I'm doing it!! I was wondering if anyone has had or been to one in the "off season". November and December people are so busy, so I don't think I'd have a good turn out. I was thinking something like Christmas in July, or a luau themed cookie exchange in July. If I don't do these, I might consider early November. What are your thoughts about this? Thanks in advance

I usually do my cookie party the second weekend of December before everyone gets tied up with obligations, but I think it could work any time of the year. If you do a luau theme you could ask that the cookies (or candy) have coconut or pineapple or be tropical in theme/shape.

I asked the ladies I planned on inviting when they'd like to have it, and they all agreed that the weekend after Thanksgiving would be most fun and the easiest to work around. The demographic of these ladies range from having smaller children, to being older ladies, and all have very busy/active lives.

I was wondering if anyone has considered the weekend before Thanksgiving. I think it's before all of the holiday craziness and you can serve all of those cookies on Thanksgiving. My only issue is being ready on time... I'm also a Halloween addict! It's hard to get the Halloween displays all put away and ready for Christmas too... in the same month!. I also make a good majority of my xmas cards and have a mailing deadline of the day before Thanksgiving so that they are mostly received the day after!! Have to start off the holiday season right!
