Hi everyone,
I'm new here, and I'm the granddaughter of two Baltimore bowlers, Cliff and Emma Kidd. (Cliff's BaltSun obit from 2010:https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-2010-04-24-bs-md-ob-cliff-kidd-20100423-story.html)
I'm writing a history on one of the alleys they owned: Southway Bowling Center, 1000 S. Charles Street, Baltimore 21230. The three-story building closed in 2000. The ground floor is now a CVS and the two upper levels, the former bowling levels, are condos.
I have pictures and articles related to my grandparents, but I'm looking for any information about the building specifically, particularly its earlier history: who owned it in the first half of the 1900s, when it was built, etc. Cliff and Emma owned the alley from 1952-1981, when they sold it. Later, Alva Brown and her son owned the alley at its closing in 2000.
Did anyone bowl there? Work there? Have memories? I'm grateful for any specific information or links to websites, books, or records. (I live out of state, so on-site research is harder for me.)
Thank you! Chrissy cnkidd at gmail . com
