Hi,
Has anyone did a christmas in july cookie exchange. With me and my friends busy after thanksgiving we can not hold a cookie exchange. I thought stores have a christmas in july sales, why not a cookie exchange. This way you can get a head start on some new recipes. Any help would be great.
Thanks a lot

I've always thought about doing the same thing. Here's my new thing this year. I am making 4 batches of cut outs with a friend next weekend and using cookie cutters for several holidays. I will freeze them & take them out to decorate right before each holiday. If it works out, I will do more baking earlier next year so I can have more fun. I love to make different types but December is too busy. Baking should be fun and not a chore.

I wanted to have a cookie exchange this year, but the ladies at my work posted an invitation before I could. Turns out, the cookie exchange they have in mind does not involve getting together, which is all part of the fun!! Still, I did not want to step on anyone's toes so I decided not to have my exchange this year. I was just thinking about having a Christmas in July exchange. Every year, a nearby campground has a Christmas in July event. My daughters and I make many kinds of cookies for this event. I thought, "Why not have a cookie exchange in July?!" It might be a great, fun-filled event!! Let me know how yours goes and I'll do the same!

Hey why not! My friends would never go for it because in the summer they are all too busy worrying about their weight - bathing suit weather.
I would still consider doing your own exchange. I couldn't get mine in this year but was invited to one and several of those ladies are going to more than one exchange.

I'm a nurse and my floor at the hospital recently started a social committee to improve morale. We're going to try a "Holiday in July" Cookie Exchange. We're going to have it on July 25th at work.

I'v thought of this too, but I've heard all the same excuses from my friends, too. So, instead I start working on my party: I'm always looking for different ideas, themes, decos, etc. When it's time for my party, alot of the initial planning, work, is already done. I can concentrate on my baking. I LOVE Christmas!

Bonnie wrote:- (re Christmas in July Cookie Exchange) Hey why not! My friends would never go for it because in the summer they are all too busy worrying about their weight - bathing suit weather. Hello, my name is Terri and I live in Western Australia. I was interested to read Bonnie's comment that her friends would not go for a Cookie Exchange in the summer as they are worried about getting into their bathing suits... here in Australia Christmas in December is in the summer time! I introduced the idea of a Christmas Cookie Exchange 2 Christmases ago (thanks to the ideas and inspiration I got from websites likes Robin's Web!) and my friends LOVE it! The fact that Christmas is in our summer time is "normal" for us... Christmas in winter (July) is really quite a novel experience. So baking Christmas cookies in our summer is really no problem... some of us just make sure the air conditioner is switched on so we can keep our cool! Koala hugs Terri

Hi Terri,
I have a friend from Melbourne, Australia who has lived here for 18 months. She was supposed to come to my Cookie Exchange on Sunday (12/11) but couldn't make it.
She was planning on making ANZAC biscuits. Could you please elaborate on what they are?
