Does anyone have a good holiday cider or punch recipe that is a big hit. I'm looking for one for my swap that will be on Dec 12th.

I use the Mulling Spices from Williams-Sonoma with Cranberry Juice rather than Apple Cider. I first made this two years ago along with the Apple Cider and the Cranberry went very quickly. The next year I just stuck to the Cranberry.

Alcohol or no alcohol? ?

Mine is non-alcoholic because I do an afternoon cookie exchange. I think if I did one in the evening I would serve wine and if I did a Brunch Cookie Exchange I would serve Mammosa's (not sure about spelling)

This is my first visit, but I couldn't resist replying here. Submitted for your approval are two (non-alcoholic) which have been BIG hits for me over the years--one hot, one cold:
The Hot One: 4 cups apple cider 2 cups cranberry juice 1 cup orange juice 1 (32 oz.) can apricot nectar (believe it or not, this is easy to find in the grocery store) 1 cup sugar 2 cinnamon sticks Simmer for 20 minutes before serving (crock pot or coffee urn is good)
The Cold One: (called Mock Champagne Punch) This is very complicated. Are you ready? Here goes: Equal parts chilled ginger ale and white grape juice.
Hope you have fun!

I would be curious to see one recipe with alcohol. Not that were a bunch of lushes or anything(LOL) but most seem to be non-alcoholic and I was just curious to read one that has alcohol in it. Thanks to everyone who responded...they sound great...now, to decide which one to have....hmmmm

I work at my church's coffee shop, and we make a DELICIOUS caramel apple cider drink. And it's really simple. This recipe is for single servings, but you could do the math to make a big batch. Hope you like it!
RECIPE: 1 mug apple cider, hot 2 tbsp. caramel flavor drink syrup (I buy this at my grocery store in the coffee section) Whipped cream Caramel ice cream syrup
Add the caramel flavor drink syrup to the hot cider. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with caramel ice cream syrup.

Erin that sounds so yummy I usually make mine in a huge coffee urn that I bought just for my cookie exchange ciders. I do not make coffee in it - just ciders. I might have to give this a try since I am mixing things up a bit this year. Thanks for sharing. I love this board

Hot Spiked Cider

This punch recipe is VERY good. My parents used to make this punch for their parties when I was young (obviously I was not the one drinking it though ! Here it is... Rosy Holiday Punch (also called Skagway Punch) 1 32oz. bottle Cranberry juice 1 12oz. can orange juice frozen (thawed) 1 6oz. can lemonade frozen (thawed) The juice of 1 fresh lemon In a large container mix together the above ingred. with 3 T sugar and 1/4 tsp. allspice. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours. Just before serving add Ginger ale and Yukon Jack (alcohol). Keep tasting and add more or less alcohol. I normally do an ice ring made with Cranberry juice and O.J. mixed with Marachino cherries and oranges. In the past 2 years I have had to double the recipe because it goes so fast!!!! Pam

Here are two more I found. The first is from the FN Semi-Homemade. I have not tried either but found on other boards.
Apple Pie Punch 2 cups apple juice or cider 4 ounces spiced rum 2 ounces cinnamon Schnapps 1 red apple, sliced Combine apple juice, rum, and Schnapps in a punch bowl or pitcher. Serve punch over ice and garnish with red apple slices.
Called a Hot Apple Pie
It's Tuaca (a Mexican liqueuer) and apple cider. Hot, of course. I would add the Tuaca to the cider in the portions that you like. I usually fix mine in a coffee pot. Put in the cider, add the Tuaca and plug it in. It always gets great reviews at my winter parties.

Thanks so much everyone for all these great recipes. I think I'm going to start making them all now and do my own taste-testing. I might be a bit loopy but what the heck. Tis the season....(LOL)

Can you put the apple brandy in the pot of spiked cider, or does soemthing happen to it when it sits. I was just thinking it would be more convenient to have it all mixed up than having to put a shot in a cup every time someone wants some more. How much apple brandy would you put in the pot if say you had a couple gallons of cider? -Lorree

Hi,
I have a great punch recipe that I got from a friend of mine over 8 years ago and I make it every year for my cookie swap - and it's a HUGE HIT!
2 Large Cans Frozen Limeade 2 Bottles 7-Up 1 Lime sliced round and then in half 1 Lemon sliced round and then in half 1 Bag of Frozen Strawberries (to be used as decorative ice cubes)
That's it! Just pour the 7-up over the limeade and then add your lemons, limes and strawberries. Everyone loves this stuff!
Good luck!
Tracy

Has anyone just done Apple Cider with spices and put it in a crock pot??
I guess my concern is running out and having to stop and make more. I have 2 crockpots so I would like to fill them both before the exchange.
Would you heat it up on high first then just keep it on low??
Thanks

Before I decided to invest in a 100 cup coffee maker (just for my annual cider) I was making it on the stove top and putting it into carafes. I found it was easier to go to Linens and Things with my 20% off coupon and buy the coffee maker. I just put the apple cider in then the spices on the top filter part and let it do it's thing (usually one hour before guests arrive).
