Robin:
I started my exchange in 2001 by copying your invitation almost to the exact words---thank you.
However, I actually do allow families! That's where I must be nuts, but here is what I do--
The party is 2-5pm on the 3rd sunday of December, 19th this year.
I invite the entire family. Each family brings 4-6 dozen cookies and we do have an honor system about taking home the same number you bring. So far I have not had a problem. Approximately 15 families attend so I have 60plus dozen cookies on the table at once--that is awesome.
I do bake a batch or two to set out with all the other (tons of) appetizer style foods plus beer, wine, soda and juice POUCHES.
Here's where the kids come in. I bake ahead (and freeze) large gingerbread figures out of sugar cookie dough - one for each child expected to attend. At my party I set up a table ( I have one that adjusts to little people height) with paper plates -childs name already printed on it with marker- and large bowls of frosting, containers of sprinkles and stuff. I let the kids have at it. It is such fun and the grown ups laugh. Most are appalled at the mess I allow them to make! ( I have hard wood floors--for those who don't - a vinyl christmas table cloth on the floor would be highly recommended!)
Anyway, it is a great time and I am asked starting about Nov. 1st if we are doing it again this year. I always joyfully answere YES! I love it and thank you for having this great website that got it all started!
This year I have invited Santa to attend--he's checking his schedule
Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Exchanging!
