Has anyone ever hosted a mother-daughter cookie exchange? I am looking to do this for my daughter's girl scout troop - 12 moms and 12 daughters.
Any special tips? How would you vary the rules to accommodate the group? The girls are 9 and 10 years old.
Thanks!! Tanya

Just a suggestion, but couldn't the Mom's do the exchange and the girls decorate sugar cookies?

A friend of mine has been hosting a Mother-daughter cookie exchange for over 10 years now. When she started the girls were eight and know they are all in their first year of college! It is a wonderful traditon. In the beginning the girls helped their mommies make and pack the cookies and now the girls make them themselves!
The only adjustments I would make are 1) we bring all of our cookies wrapped in bundles (no little fingers touching all the cookies) 2) we bring extra to "sample" (very important to kids).
We serve hot chocolate, fruit with dips, etc. Eight and Nine year old girls are at a great age for this type of activity. My daughter is nine and is a wonderful baker!
Good Luck!

My daughter, 11, has been hosting her own cookie exchange for 3 years now. The children love it! No chocolate chip cookies is the only rule. We do a chocolate fondue for dessert and serve mugs of hot cocoa with whipped cream. They have a grab bag, do a few games and the cookie exchange. Last year they decorated giant gingerbread cookies!

Hi-
I am planning a Mother-Daughter cookie exchange this year (6 year olds) and hoping to make it a yearly tradition. I would love it if some of you that have done this will post your ideas. I am planning on each girl bringing 2 dz cookies. Serving lunch -- small sandwiches, fruit platter, veggie platter, crackers, holiday punch. Games would include pass the package, pin the nose on Rudolph, find the snowball.
Craft - something like jingle bell necklaces and decorating gingerbread men.
Any suggestions on little gifts for the girls? Invitation wording?
Thanks for any input or suggestions

I am hosting a cookie-exchange this year with a bunch of mom's from my prenatal class. It will be moms and babies. Our children are all about 10 months. So it'll be different than the no children and husbands that others host. But I'm hoping for it to be an annual event as our children get older. The invitations I did are a cookie monster theme - I even had a clip art of cookie monster with a Christmas Gingerbread House.

Although in the past I have had a mom's day only--this year I am inviting kids because my son wants to be included one year--he's 7. I don't know that I will do crafts---I think I will do it as if it were an adult party only--just include the kids. Like have a left/right game for the adults and then one for the kids. Maybe Christmas Bingo for the kids as well. And of course if they do get bored there is always Christmas movies on the big screen TV. I would like to have "Santa" stop in but not sure if I can find one my son wouldn't recognize-LOL.

Hi Everyone, I just found this awesome board! Well, it has inspired me to host a cookie exchange, but is it too late? I'm traveling out of town for the holidays (back to my hometown) and would like to do a Mother-Daughter Cookie Exchange with my family. My daughter is 9 and she LOVES baking and being in the kitchen! I thought this was a beautiful idea My granny has a very nice clubhouse in her community (which is where I had my daughter's 9th b-day party), which would be the ideal spot. I'm thinking 10-12 couples, light refreshments, games and cookies of course! So, all that to ask if December 22nd would be too late and what other ideas can you all share. I've never hosted a cookie exchange before, but this weekend I'm having a Gingebread party...very small (just my daughter and two other little girls) where they will decorate gingerbread houses, stuff a gingerbread doll and enjoy a holiday movie and refreshemnts. I'll give out cute little gingerbread house treat boxes with goodies! Sorry to be so long winded, but I'm VERY excited about this and wanted some feedback if possible Thanks and blessings to all

I would send out invitations (or call them) and see what response you get. Even if only half respond YES that's still a party.
Have fun!

Thanks Tonya!! I sent my Mom the invites to hand deliver to everyone...since I don't have all the addresses. Many had already called to ask if we were planning to have an event and they would be ready. So, e're praying that everything turns out okay! I'm just excited and truly look forward to having some FUN!

I held my first mother-daughter cookie exchange last December and we are planning out 2nd one for 2008 already. My pictures are posted under 2007. The majority of the daughters were middle school age. The cool thing that we did was that each mother-daughter make 1 dozen cookies to send to the troops. The girls have a teacher at their school who's son-in-law is serving in Iraq and she was just overjoyed at being able to send his group these cookies. The girls have already been asking who can we do cookies for next year. I gave out tickets for RSVP, arriving on time, wearing Christmas attire and then we played mother-daughter games to earn additional tickets. Everyone also brought a $5.00 gift to exchange during the right, left game. It was a great time by all.

Our Cookie Exchange was such a blessing! Not everyone brought cookies...but, this was our first year and it was kind of short notice. However, the fellowship was just outstanding. We had food and fun for everyone. I would say the highlight of the evening was the gift game!!! I'm already planning now for the next event in December of this year and can hardly wait! Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! Blessings to all

My daughter's Girl Scout troop is hosting a cookie exchange for all the troop's in her town. The plan is to have each troop bring 3 dozen cookies. 2 of the 3 dozen will be donated to our local Food Kitchen for their Holiday meals. I am the organizer. I have done a home exchange a few years ago. I am just looking for ideas and to see if anyone else out there has done a similar exchange.
