I'm biting the bullet and hosting my first exchange. I was going to pray to be invited to one ;D but decided that I should just have my own. The only dilemma - not leaving anyone out and hurting their feelings (I'm the director of women's ministries at our church).
That being said -- I'm excited. I'm asking the women to bring 2 to 6 dozen cookies. Does that work, or is it better to have the same amount?
I'm planning on a white-elephant exchange along with the cookies and considering if I should make it mother/daughter (since I have 3 teenaged daughters who might want to join in). Not sure about that one yet...
Thanks for this website! I'm looking forward to reading more posts and getting more ideas.

I would recommend that everyone bring the same amount. I do 6 dozen-- 5 dozen for swapping and 1 dozen for the tasting table. I have them bring them wrapped in packages of 6, so that's 10 packages of cookies each guest brings.
It's less confusing and not much math to do. Everyone takes the same number home that they brought.
