I have found many good suggestions on this board. I am going to a cookie exchange next week and have a question. We start by going around the table and picking up one of everything. By the time that you get home, all the tastes have blended together. I am not in charge and just going as a guest. I am thinking of bringing a large box of Ziploc bags, for people to put their cookies in. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I think that is a good idea as long as the host of the party is ok with that. I hosted a party last year and my cookie was a Mint Chocolate Cookie. I was told by one of my guests that my cookie sabatoged the rest of the cookies in the box from the party. They all tasted like mint the next day. Just let your host know your concern and see if it is alright that you bring bags for everyone since it is likely that someone will bring a cookie that will over power all the others. Hope this helps.

I just posted this on the "how many per person" question. It applies here too and maybe this is another good reason for packaging.
I have my guests package the cookies in packages of 6. If you bring 5 dozen, that's 10 packages. If 11 people show up, everyone gets 1/2 dozen of each (not taking the one they brought).
There's no math to do. Cookies don't get touched by 20 hands. They're easy to pack up in a shopping bag, and they go straight to the freezer.
In addition: the cookies don't taste like each other.
