Has anyone made these yet this season? I have a Wilton Spritz Cookie Press that I bought a few years back and I am dying to try these again. I gave up the first time because the cookie dough would not press out properly. I found a recipe on FN (because the one on the box didn't work well for me) and someone suggested letting the dough get a little stiff in the fridge. Does anyone know a fool proof method.

Bonnie--I usually make these every year and I like to let the dough get a little stiff before trying to press these. Not leaving all the dough out while you are working with part of it is how I do it. I can send you the recipe I use for mine if you would like. I think they are pretty much all the same though.Good luck! Cindy

Thanks Cindy.
This is the recipe I tried. I realized that some of the more detailed designs/patterns were the ones not working out for me. I also rolled the dough into a log shape using floured hands which helped. I did experiment a bit with the last log and put that in the fridge for a short time (3 minutes) which seemed to help some.
Butter Spritz Cookies
1 cup confectioners' sugar 2 sticks unsalted butter 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon almond extract 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 cups sifted flour Sprinkles for garnish Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a mixer with a paddle attachment, add the sugar and the butter. Mix until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla and almond extracts and mix to incorporate. Sift together the baking powder and the flour. Add the flour mixture. Mix until combined. Using a cookie press, press cookies onto ungreased cookie sheets. Top with the sprinkles of your choice. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes, or until firm, but not yet browning.

Someone posted this on another board and it was very helpful. See if the following link might help. I have zillions of cookie cutters for my sugar cookies, but have never owned a cookie press. I read somewhere (Bon Appetit, I think) that Kuhn Rikon makes one of the better cookie presses. baking911.com/cookies/molded_spritz101.htm
