I am wanting to hold a cookie exchange but courious about the time. I really need to do it on a week night. I was thinking about beginning at 6pm does that sound about right or should I make it later? I realize that some people may have to go home and pick up their cookies and get kids to baby sitter. Any advice?

I think I would make it 7pm or 7:30pm. I play BUNCO once a month on a Tuesday night. We meet at the homes at 7pm (7-7:30pm is social time) and we start play at 7:30pm. Usually we are out by 10pm.
If there are working ladies I know they would prefer to have that extra time to get home and get the family settled before leaving for the exchange. If it is too early you may have a lot of ladies not coming.
Good Luck.
I may have to do mine this year during the week as well.
