I work at a university and 3 years ago our office began hosting a cookie exchange. We originally invited everyone in our division and in our building but this year we are only inviting the staff in our division. This event has become one of the Christmas events that everyone looks forward to. We ask everyone to bring 4/5 dozen cookies and then 1 dozen to share. Our office "poet" is responsible for making the invitations. We have hot chocolate to go with those great cookies. Yes, we do have cookies that are made from "non scratch" receipes but that is okay because we enjoy getting together. Our student workers are also invited to participate. We offer prizes for the best cookie, the most festive person, etc. We have students from another department that are invited to be the judges. Everyone is encouraged to RSVP but sometimes that is difficult to do because we just don't know what the work day will have for us. Since we are not sure how many people will show up we just wait for that day and then we have everyone stand in line and we go around the table and have everyone pick a certain number of cookies and left overs are then divided. Are they any other offices who hold cookie exchanges?

My friend and coworker agreed to submit an entry intro a friend's cookie exchange party that they are having at work on Friday. Today, this friend told me that his friend told hime that he was not entitled to any of the other cookies at the party. As impartial observers I was wondering your opinion on the matter.
