I'm planning on hosting a cookie exchange this year and I'm finding this site very helpful. But I feel like 6 dozen is a LOT of cookies. At my house there are just two of us and we usually buy/make other sweets besides cookies so we would never eat 6 dozen cookies. Most of the other people I'm inviting have small families too, but a couple do have larger families, although those households will have more than one guest coming from them. Should I still plan on six dozen, or should I go with a smaller amount?

Hi there...I'm on my 4th annual this year and I've gone from 6 to 7 to 8 dozen per guest *with 30 or more guests attending* This year I've changed things up (I have 65 invited guests--probably 45 will attend) 4 1/2 dozen minimum cookies (you can make more) wrapped /packaged in groups of 6 with recipes attached. 6 cookies can be left in ziploc for sharing table So that's 8 packages of 6 cookies... This way folks can make more or just stick with the minimum...j There will be WAY more cookies to swap...the more they make, the more varieties they'll get... This was a bit tricky to word in laymans terms for the basic baker (my friends aren't nearly as crazy about the exchange as I am ) But most folks got the message and I plan on making sure they understand when they RSVP..
