I'm doing a project for school about popular music of the 60's and 70's and I just can't find any facts about it. Does anyone have any good links? Thanks!

Probably the most popular sort of venue for teenagers to hear live music back in the 60's and 70's was at their high school dances. While doing a search on the internet, I came across a recently issued CD by a popular band from my small hometown in NJ. The name of the band was Six Feet Under. They were around about a year, but were very psychedelic and pretty good, especially with all the wah-wah pedals and strobe lights. I remember the lead singer, a 14 y/o girl named Nanette who lived around the block from me, coming into my junior high English class one day in 1969 in her blue jeans and very rad shag haircut and doing an "unplugged" version of one of the songs she sang w the band. You can hear some of their music if you do a Google search for the CD "In Retrospect 1969-70". It even includes announcements from the stage for the 1969 Colonia High School Halloween Dance and for another hometown band called The Sonics.

Good suggestions. And, you might want to try a "theme" approach, so to speak. and write about different kinds of music popular in each decade, with examples of songs, bands, etc. For example, in the early 60's, surfer and car music was popular (Beach Boys, Jan & Dean), moving to folk, psychedelic music, to The Beatles and Stones, Etc. In the early 70's, folksy, acoustic-guitar driven kind of music was popular again - Joni Mitchell, Jim Croce, Jon Denver. In the late 70's, disco and punk, etc. There are probably good sites you could find using searches such as "history of rock in the 70's" or something similar. Good luck.
