I have been trying to find out if there is such a place as a town or city that seems to be stuck in the 70's. I want so badly to go back to the 70's that I would seriously love to find a place where the people are sort of stuck in the 70's and where things are just a little like they used to be. As pathetic as this sounds, I am serious. Any suggestions out there. I would really appreciate any help.

dear Brook, I just read your post and I understand how you feel. I would also love to go back to the 70's! That's funny that you mentioned finding a 70's-like town, because I thought of the same thing. Much of the town I grew up in (in northeast Ohio), has changed quite a bit, but some of it has remained the same. I remember the recreational swimming park that I used to go to all the time in the 70's as a pre-teen and teenager. It has changed some(they removed the high dive from the pool for fear of lawsuits, took out all the straight slides for a gigantic 100 foot water slide and renovated the concession ), but it still looks quite the same and it still brings back memories! I can almost picture myself lounging by the pool and playing putt putt golf. As I drive through the town remininscing, I see alot of changes(especially newer home allotments and businesses going in), but I still see some of the same 70's split-level homes with dark cedar siding intermixed with the newer homes. I also notice many changes with the schools. Many of the schools now have huge additions built on and I almost cried when they tore down my old elementary school. Nowdays, the kids have to have EVERYTHING and NEW! They can't be content with just football, basketball and cheerleading or baton twirling. Now they have to have lacrosse, swimming, karate, girls dance team,...you name it, they have it. (I almost expect the school to build a Nascar-like raceway for the kids)...We were grateful to drive a beat-up junker to school. Now the kids are driving spanking brand new Mercedes and BMW's. Even though we didn't have all of these things,I do believe we were more creative and imaginative in the 70's and a result, we had more fun. To answer your question, I don't know of any town(at least in Ohio) that is stuck in the 70's. The only thing I do, is go back to the places that have remain unchanged (or mostly unchanged) and reminensce(spelling?) and remember all the good times we had growing up. Hope that helps!

Thanks "selissa" for replying to my post. I had completely forgotten to check to see if anyone replied. I am certain most people are thinking I am nuts. I was just back in my home town, Sarasota, FL and ironically enough, I drove through my old neighborhood and it was soooo sad. They are tearing down everything. However, the good news is that there are still way more homes that are still the 70s style (although I am SURE not as cool as a Northern 70s style home or a California 70's style home) than there are these horrid mammoth homes with NO character. I have been buying up stuff on Ebay like crazy. Boho clothes, old toys you name it. It sort of acts like a therapy! LOL. Well, if anyone else out there reads this and doesn't think I am nuts.... I actually did meet someone from Huntington Beach CA and she said that the towns around there are sort of 70s. Sounds like I need to take a trip to CA.
