Hi, my name is Rachel, my nick name is thumper. Most folks call me Rachel however, but that doesn't really matter. I have a very important question that is was wondering if you could answer. Now i know that i am only 13, but i would just like to point something out about the annotation from the lyrics to american pie. I was wondering why people try to find out what the song means if it clearly was written about several subjects? Yes it is does help to a certain extent, but why must it be evaluated, sometimes verse by verse? I might be getting a little sidetracked from what you people were trying to do, and i don't want to be rude, or mean, or whatever you want to call it, but why does it matter? When people hear music, they don't try to find out what the artist was thinking about, or in that case feeling. People just make their own meanings. One day the meaning might mean something else. My friends at school say i try to analyze things, but i don't understand why music, a form of art, an expression of the human mind has to be understood. Thank you very much for listening to this comment, and i hope i didn't hurt anyones feelings. I also hope that you don't think i am a mean person, aka someone you never want ot hear from again. I couldn't do any paragraphs because my indent isn't working, oops. Thanks again!-thumper

Rachel, You are a deep thinker. Females are far superior to males in every way. Keep up the great work and don't stop dominating men.

Wow! Are you sure you're only 13? You have a very analytical mind, my dear...

based on your use of the word "annotation" and your thought-provoking analysis of the lyrics, it is clear to me you need to get the hell out of the house more often

I am Mexican, and a die hard fan of 70s' Music, Eagles, CSNY and so, but I am not always able of understand perfectly at a 100% the lyrics ( I do a good job, but not all the time) and I don't care, I just enjoy the Music.
