Heeeeeellllp I know there was a program on in the 70's and it was about a guy who was either a cop or police doctor or maybe even parole officer. He had an unusual name - Eastern European or Polish? Not much to go on, I know. I've googled and googled and asked everyone I know and they've lost patience with me The actor who took the lead role was tall and thin and not conventionally good looking. it's not Petrocelli or Banacek or any of those with well known actors in. Can anybody help?

The 70s are an ideal crime-fighting era that belonged to Columbo or Rockford.
Columbo (1971-1978) performed by Peter Falk.
The Rockford Files (1974-1980) performed by James Garner as James Rockford.
Both were brilliant.
Others included: Cannon (1971-1976) gave us the "fat guy PI. Barnaby Jones (1973-1980) gave us the "old guy." Harry O (1974-1976) City of Angels (February-August 1976) was a marvelous period piece set in 1930s LA. Kojak (1973-1978) challenged Columbo for the quirkiest professional crime-fighter of the era. McCloud (1970-1977). McMillan and Wife (1971-1977). Police Woman (1974-1978) Get Christie Love! (1974-1975) Baretta (1975-1978) Barney Miller (1975-1982), Quincy M.E. (1976-1983), and last but not least Charlie's Angels (1976-1981) (and I still have my FF poster around here somewhere!)
Hope this helps.
Cheers Bear

How about the TV show Skag ? Karl Malden played a union foreman (Pete "Skag" Skagska) from a Pittsburgh steel mill.
