Libbyland Dinners were produced in the 1970's as TV dinners for kids. They came with pop up tops that acted as games while you ate. The metal trays had imprinted designs on the bottom. There was: Sundown Supper, Safari Supper, and Pirate Picnic. Anybody here remember Libbyland Dinners? Sometimes when I see pictures of these things (the Libbyland Dinners), if I close my eyes, for just a brief moment I can actually remember the smell of those things as my mom took them out of the oven. No microwaves back then, eh? In particular, the Sundown Supper with beans and franks and the chocolate brownie. Yum!

Wow Tiki,
I remember those. I know I lapped up a few dozen of those over their short existence. I remember the one dinner that featured the hot dog in the bun.. I still remember the commercial with "Libby The Kid".. It like Billy the Kid spelled sideways. sort of !!!

Libby The KidThey were cool, huh? I always remembered they were a special treat to have, especially when it was usually for dinner on a Friday night. Even more important, It meant that I didn't have to go to school for the next two days!!! ( love those weekends) lol! ;D Remember the "magic Milk" packet that came with the meals? it turned your milk into a fruity, sweet drink that was pretty cool, too. Thanks for remembering bushy, I was starting to feel like an alien around here.

OMG! I remember those. I thought they were the best thing since french fries and ketchup. We used to BEG my folks to keep them coming. It's funny...I loved those, but nowadays TV dinners just don't taste as good as those in the 70's did. I can't get my kids to touch them.
My sister and I used to eat our potato chips with ketchup. Did/does anyone else did/do that? I thought we invented it...and were onto something BIG.
And is it my imagination, but didn't school cafeteria food actually taste ok back then? I remember digging around in the milk crates for the perfectly slushy ones. We would shake them to make sure we got the ones with frozen ice floating on top. These days my kids demand I pack them lunch daily.

Tikibob, you mentioned the weekends...Remember Saturday morning cartoons? Before cable TV? We lived all week long for those Saturday morning cartoons. You couldn't get me out of bed to save my live on the weekdays, but come Saturday morning...I was Little Miss Rise and Shine! Wouldn't miss my cartoons for nothing. So funny.

Wow!!! I had completely forgot about those dinners. It seemed as if a frozen dinner took forever to bake. My sister and I also ate the Swanson chicken noodle dinners. What I would give to have one today.
