i think it was called chiller theater (maybe thriller theater)
there was a hand that came up from a swamp in the open and ate the letters
very scary and i think they showed movies.
it may have been an east coast thing
any east coasters remember?

I loved Chiller !! I think it was on Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM. It may have started in the 60's but I definitely remember watching it in the 70's. Funny thing about that hand that came out of the ground. If I remember correctly it had 6 or 7 fingers....
I loved the pulsating background music as well during that intro....

In Wisconsin we used to have something called Shock Theater which was probably the same. I remember a skit on Second City TV called Monster Chiller Theater. It was a take off on those type of shows.
