[glow=red,2,300]Did anyone like and watch Dark Shadows? If so, who was your fav. character? Mine was Quentin (Played by David Selby). Does anyone remember "Quentin's Theme"?[/glow]

My Dark Shadows story.
I met Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) in an elevator in the late 60's. I was around 8 or 9 years old. We were in Baltimore at a classic car show. Dark Shadows was in its hey day. JF was probably featured at the car show.
After the car show, my family and I were in an elevator, as we were going to the top of a building to have dinner in the rotating restaurant. JF and my Dad started speaking. Then he leaned down towards me with his face inches from mine. He said to me "Let me see your eye teeth" in a vampire accent. He wanted to see my "fangs". LOL. I remember being totally creeped out!
Then he told my Dad to bring round to his table for an autograph after dinner. I didn't want it! My Dad dragged me by his table and he and my Dad said good bye and I was like, get me out of here!
My other weird childhood celebrity encounter was also in an elevator.
Miami Beach, 1971, The Deauville Hotel elevator Me, 12 years old. Going up after being in the pool all day. No parents with me. Elliot Gould, star of MASH the movie (1970). Elliot, higher than a kite, with two starlets hanging off his arms on either side of him. They were high also. Elliot started yelling sexual comments at me. He was out of his mind. I was totally freaked out. I went to our room and told my mother what had just happened and she exclaimed: "I wish I had been there!" (LOL) Tom Jones was playing at our hotel. Saw him, too, but NOT IN THE ELEVATOR!

My husband and I both watched this as kids. The girls who lived next door to me were not allowed to watch it, so as a precaution they could not come over during the time it aired! That was back in the day when lots of Moms were still at home. Their family and home was their "career" Both of my parents worked so no parental T.V. control was in effect.

I was a little young for dark shadows, but it must've been on in my house because about 5 years ago while giving 6 am feedings to my newborn, i would watch the re-runs on the sci-fi channel and the music and characters were really familiar. i ended up buying the first season on dvd. then a tv stage manager i sometimes work with, told me he worked on the show and had a few amusing stories about the tapings.

I remember when my mother watched Dark Shadows. I believe she would plan her ironing around the time so my Dad couldn't say anything about her wasting her time. I loved it actually and continued to watch it as I got older with the reruns on Channel 17-WTBS in Atlanta when I was in college. Quentin's song was mesmerizing!
