Just wanted to say that I e-mailed Karolyn Grimes, (Zuzu), and she said in her reply that Jean Gale has not ever been located so noone including cast members who still appear at events, know of her whereabouts. It's kind of weird, but, I'm sure someone knows what happened to her along the way.

:DThanks! I did not try Ms.Grimes because I know this is a close-knit group and do not expect any of them to spill the beans on each other. I'm gonna find her one way or another; it's just a matter of time. Of course, whether she agrees to an autograph is her decision entirely. I guess I enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I really would like to see her & Ms. Roose get together and write a book about their experience on this film and then their lives thereafter; that's the real story!! ;D ;D

:)I just wonder how much they, (the child actors) can really remember. I would be curious as to how much contact they actually had with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. I also wonder what Capra was like and how they were treated. How many takes? Wouldn't you like to have been a fly on the wall to see how it all came together to be the masterpiece that it is?

I would have loved to see the behind the scenes stuff too. I did hear a few things about the child actors' experiences while filming the show. I don't know if this is true or not, but I read somewhere that Bob Anderson really got slapped in the scene where Gower yells at him ( fellow Lifers feel free to correct me if I'm wrong ). I also read in an article in the LA Times that in the "Auld Lang Syne" scene at the end, Jimmy Stewart was holding Karolyn Grimes and then started to laugh because she was singing the wrong words. Here's the article: articles.latimes.com/2006/dec/23/entertainment/et-wonderful23?pg=4

There is a museum in Seneca Falls, NY which claims to be one of the inspirations for It's A Wonderful Life. In the museum they have interviews from several child actors in the films. These children do have a recollection of making the film. There is also an It's A Wonderful Life festival annually in the beginning of December in Seneca Falls. Several of the child stars attend,m sign autographs and speak at various events.

Did you ever find out anything about Jean Gale? I specifically looked for her name in the credits because she was so luminous in the movie. I thought - wow, I wonder what happened to that child, if she continued acting, because the camera loved her and she had so much happening in her eyes. She was beautiful and so talented. What a shame she didn't continue acting, if that is in fact the case.

I just read in Facebook from her daughter that she died in 1974, and that she did act in a few other movies but no other details. I’m curious about her as well.

That is not the same Jean Gale. There was another Jean Gale that was born in 1912 and died in 1974.

The one that died in 1974 was born in 1912, which would have made her 34 when "It's a Wonderful Life" was made.

My wife and I were coming up empty on the search. Jean Gale who the internet claims is young mary, cannot be the same. That would make her 34yrs old when she is sitting at the soda shop with violet.
