Went over to Town Hall Lanes (Johnston, RI) today, to take in some of the morning qualifying squad for this month's DPBA/WNDA event. Impressive -- this tour is a much bigger deal than what I'm used to from the candlepin scene. 95 bowlers in the men's event (and the director told me this is a "small" event -- Hagerstown usually draws close to 200, she says), several dozen on the women's side, plenty of local sponsors kicking in some money, considerable buzz -- good stuff. I'm going back tomorrow to watch some of the match play.
That's a good tour you guys have.

Just to follow up, I went back today and watched the match-play part of the tournament. Some great action. The men's event was won by Don Dove, who defeated top seed Larry Lipka in the finals, while the women's (WNDA) event was won by Amy Bisson, over Pat Rinaldi. Terrific bowling on display!

hey urbie, glad to see you like the duckpin pro tour. the duckpin protour is much more interesting and exiciting than the candlepin tour. i think the biggest problem with the candlepin tour, is these people don't like to travel. they think that going around new england is a big problem. the duckpinners go from mass-to maryland on aweekend and maryland-mass on a weekend. that's why they won't change their format, and have more head-to-head compitition.

Amy Bisson vs Pat Rinaldi, bet that was a good match up. What was the final score?
