Our annual office cookie-exchange is taking a new twist this year. Instead of taking our cookies home we would like to mail them to our troops. I need all the information on how to do this. By what day do we need to mail the cookies? Who do we address the cookies to? What kind do we make? How do we pack them? Please help!!

Hi there,
you need to contact an agency in order to send cookies to the troops. you can not just send them randomly because they will just be thrown out. If you do not know someone personally then you will have to contact someone. You can go to Soliders wish list, the USO, and america supports you to name a few. As for cookies to make. A package takes anywhere from two weeks to a month to reach a solider. so make something that has a long shelf life and can be thrown around. Sometimes pacakages sit out in the sun for a couple days before being delievered. If you need any other help feel free to e-mail me. Jacks912@hotmail.com
hope this helps!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Jackie. It sounds easy in theory but the rigamarole to get fresh cookies to the soldiers is a lot. One of my oldest friends, Becky Campbell, is the CEO of the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. She's been to my exchanges and she delivered cookies once to some soldiers who'd just returned from Iraq. I've asked her about shipping cookies to Iraq and she discouraged me from promoting the idea on my website, due to the same issues Jackie mentioned. There are websites where you can donate money and/or non perishable items for the soldiers. Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund www.cfsrf.org
