i was wondering if anyone has done a cookie swap as a church fundraiser??? i seem to remember reading an article somewhere about a church in Minnesota (i think) where the church members do this as a fundraiser. all i remember is, they of course bake a lot of cookies and the public comes and can purchase by the dozen. I think too they were cookies from different nationalities which made it interesting. If anyone has had any experience with this, i'd be interested to know how it was approached and how it turned out. thanks!

I attended a school fundraiser like this last weekend. Every year, the school families bake a huge variety of cookies (the kids told me there were more than 100 different kinds of cookies!) and sell them by the pound. (I think it was $6.75/pound this year.) It worked great and it was obvious they had this down to a science! They handed out empty pastry boxes and disposable gloves at the door and instructed people to move around the tables in a certain order. The volunteers kept re-stocking all day from the stash in the kitchen. Community members have come to count on this event every year.

Hi All! I worked in a nursing home and we raised over $100. in less than one hour. I asked everyone I knew and worked with to donate/bring in 3 doz. cookies or more. We wieghed cookies in a dollar store folded box that everyone got at the door along w/gloves. Live entertainment was blasting. Everyone walked around the beautifully lighted table and filled their box...some after weighing ...went back to the table...taking more or less. We would refill with the extras as the plates/baskets would empty. We sold them for $8.00 lb. The rule was you couldn't take just one kind...it had to be an assortment. The biggest expence was a better scale this year...it was worth it! We ran out of cookies too soon again! I'm afraid next year there will be a mile long line for the first come first serve waiting at the door. Any suggestions? God Bless, Marcella

Yes, I have heard of these...it is sometimes called a Cookie Walk. What a great way to get cookies, and you know they would be fresh and tasty.
