My Mom and I are planning a Fall themed exchange, due to the difficulty in getting people together between TG and Christmas. We are having ours Nov 8th and I was wondering if anyone else had hosted one at a different time of year.

We do not celebrate Christmas, so we have a winter-themed party. We do it at the end of Jan. when it's really cold and everyone could use a pick-me-up. My first year's theme was simply a Winter Wonderland, with everything decorated in white, blue and silver, twinkle lights... Second year was a Gingerbread theme, lots of gingerbread decorations that I picked up throughout the year at yard sales, Goodwill, etc. I had about 20 ladies at each and everyone had an incredibly great time! I'm happy to share more details if you're interested.

I have wanted to do a Halloween cookie exchange.. your cookies would be halloween themed. I also thought appetizers would be a good one... not to exchange, but everyone bring a different one and have contests just like you would at the cookie exchange... spookiest, most clever, tastiest, most gruesome.... and for the men if they are invited, have a beer exchange... every man brings a 6 pack of a specialty beer to be sampled by all the guys... or all the beer drinkers.. depending on your particular group.
