New to the forum. My 6th year of hosting a cookie swap and I always try to have a new theme. The ladies love all the games, contests, and prizes I award to correspond to the theme. This year I was thinking about Dickens, A Christmas Carol. Any ideas?

My co-planner came up with the idea of each person decorating their container with a certain Christmas carol in mind. For example, Jingle Bells could have bells glued all over the container.....12 days of Christmas could have two Turtle Doves. Then as each person passes out their containers of cookies, we will see who can guess the song first!
Also, we went to the Dollar Store and bought Christmas CDs to use as Party Favors. We bought clear jewel cases and we are going to stamp and decorate the "Title Pages or fronts" of the jewel cases. Hope that makes sense. It's a little hard to describe.

My theme this year was Santa Baby. It was based on the 1953 song and I centered things around the classic cocktail party of the 1950's as well as the glamor alluded to in the song. Santa, of course, was present everywhere. Served punch out of champagne glasses and served food popular in the 50's such as pigs in a blanket, cheese ball, etc. It was so fun!

This would be a great thread to list theme ideas. Here are the ones I have used thus far: 1. Christmas Cookies: gingerbread themed (2006) 2. Retro Christmas: cookies your grandma made (2007) 3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Cookies): cookies were mini and green in theme (2008) 4. Santa Baby: based on the 1940's song; cookies were Santa themed and made with vintage recipes (2009) 5. A Charlie Brown Christmas: it's the Peanut's 60th anniversary this year! (2010)
Upcoming ideas I have written down to pull from: Dicken's A Christmas Carol: scrooge-y theme (mini cookies) Blue Christmas: blue theme Marshmallow World: homemade candy allowed Christmas Carols: cookies based on a Christmas Carol Silver Bells: an elegant silver/sparkly theme In the Kitchen with Mrs. Claus: make cookies at the party Night Before Christmas: craft cookie plates for Santa at party
What themes have you used?
