Does anyone remember a song from the 70's titled D.O.A. ? It was a very morbid song about a plane crash. Our home-ec teacher would let us bring records to play in class on Fridays. We were not allowed to play D.O.A. Our teacher was single and the rumor was her boy friend had died in a plane crash. Wow the things you remember from Jr. High. Anyone know the lyrics or who performed the song?

D.O.A Bloodrock Bloodrock 2 Laying here looking at the ceiling Someone lays a sheet across my chest Something warm is flowing down my fingers Pain is flowing all through my back
I try to move my arms and there's no feeling And when I look I see there's nothing there The face beside me stopped it totally bleeding The girl I knew has such a distant stare
I remember We were flying along and hit something in the air I remember We were flying along and hit something in the air
Then I looked straight at the attendant His face is pale as it can be He bends and whispers something softly He says there's no chance for me
I remember We were flying along and hit something in the air I remember We were flying along and hit something in the air
Life is flowing out my body Pain is flowing out with my blood The sheets are red and moist where I'm lying God in Heaven, teach me how to die
I remember We were flying along and hit something in the air I remember We were flying along and hit something in the air ;D

I have that MP3. It's just as creepy listening to it today as then. I can't believe they played it on top 40 radio. I was around 10 or 11 and it scared the crap out of me. That song and "Timothy. " What were these people thinking???

I forgot all about that freaky song, DOA. I would like to hear it again, just to hear it again, since I forget how it goes. I do have the song Timothy.

Hi, I am new to here, but I was reading the question about the song DOA. I have been thinking of that song for the last 2 days. I would like to find out who sang this song, the year it came out, and the words if I can find them. The only thing I remember is that our parents and most adults did not like us listening to it. But we did and it was played alot, until they "had" to take it off the air. So, if anyone can please help me, I would greatly appreciate it very much! I am a little late in writing this comment, but I never even knew this web existed. But I am really happy about it being here for us. Thanks. Grandma591

Yes I remember D.O.A., it was taken off radio all over the Washington, D.C. area when I was in my mid teens. I remember when the song played before they yanked it - it was morbid & scared the "u know what out of me"!. I always thought it was stupid after so many years because I never heard it again & there was so many worst songs...then one night in the late 90's while I was searching a.m. radio for a good talk show....it was playing. I had to laugh because it was not nearly as bad as I remembered. Heck, the song called "Timothy" was worst than D.O.A., at least D.O.A. didn't talk about people forced to eat other people while trapped in a coal mine, lol. Star

I searched for the song DOA after all these years, remembering how it creeped me out, and landed here. The other song that rattles around my brain now and then is "Ain't gonna bump no more with no big fat woman". Anyone remember that gem?

I was in high school at the time and remember it played on WPGC in Metro DC for a week, maybe two, before it got pulled. Very morbid song. My guess is that there were a LOT of complaints for it to get yanked.
I could've sworn it was about a car crash though.

"DOA" was sung by the group BloodRock. When it says "we were flying low, and hit something in the air", it is referring to Driving too fast (flying low) and crashing (hit something in the air). It then goes into the descriptions of watching the gore in the aftermath of the crash, and being unable to do anything about it. Think of flying low as a Corvette Stingray "flying" along at about 150 mph, hitting a bump, and then taking flight to "hit something in the air" like a telephone post.
It's all yours from here...

I remember that song. What a great and creepy tune. I remember my oldest sister telling me it was about an LSD induced car crash. Love it! Great to see somebody remembers it. Thanks for the lyrics, too!

i remember the song "D.O.A." also..yes, it was a creepy song but i never knew during the tyme i heard it on the radio back in high school during the early 70's in Washington, DC that they actually pulled it from the airwaves..there was another song i remember that i believe was closely related in subject that had no music at the end of the song where the lyrics was sung by one guy were "things get a little easier, once you understand", over and over while someone was crying in the background..i cant remember the song or what it was about..i thought about it a few months ago, and cant find it..thats what brought me to this site...

Whoo...it's nice to find this. That song used to creep me out, too, as a kid, and my older sister used to play it just for that reason. ...Also she thought it was about drugs, and at the time her ambition was to be a junkie... Now we're both responsible citizens, and she claims she doesn't remember it, my husband never heard it, and it's been impossible to find. It's kind of a great indicator of the times, though.

I was in a band that played at some of the WPGC events. We used to play that song. I went to my local fire station in Landover Hills Md and they let me record their siren. As we would play the song I would start the tape and you would hear the sirens wailing in the background. It was very morbid even to us and especially to the parents who would all complain and tell us to never play it again. WOW..what an impact that song had. Good or Bad it was powerful.
