Heather if you were to do this... give instructions for everyone to buy a cooler (cheap styrofoam would work) and keep the doughs on ice for the party. It could be done.
But... is it worth the effort? Most baked cookies freeze well.

I agree with Pookie. There's another recent message on this board about a work CE, where one person worked hard to create one and after 5 years another co-worker "stole" it by insisting that the party be at her house. Start one on your own with your friends, neighbors and family.

Kim, I am so sorry, I completely forgot about this! My email is so backed up I couldn't find yours to write you privately. I must have mis-filed it. Yikes, maybe next year. Robin

Hi Jeanne, You're the first to report back that you found a party! Yeah for Jeanne and and big thanks to Roberta for opening her home. I'm so glad it worked out. Jeanne, favor: please repost this in the "Looking for a CE party" thread... so other seekers will see a success story! Thanks, Robin

Sorry to hear about your situation. Well, you have a choice. You can get in this person's face and let her know how you feel or if you don't want to be confrontational..... your other choice is to start your own cookie exchange with your other friends.
Since it's a work related party, you might want to start a new cookie exchange with your best friends.
Good luck!

I am going to suggest to those that have to leave before the exchange that if they leave their containers, someone will do the exchange for them. That could be chaotic. If you know several will be leaving sooner than later, consider doing the swap earlier into the party. If you're going to swap for others, this is how I do it: I'll sneak into the dining room alone, while the party is going on in the other rooms and fill their containers and then hide them so they don't get lost in the shuffle after the group enters the room. It only takes a up to 5 minutes. You really can't take cookies for more than one person during the group swap, because you only have 2 hands. One to hold the tray, the other to pick up cookies.

Hi Bev, How do you sort out a soup swap so all the participants bring the same amount? Do you specify by container size? How many people usually soup swap? Sounds fun! Robin

If you are looking to make a booklet (one sheet of paper printed double-sided and folded in half, yielding 4 pages), it is really easy to format this in either Microsoft Word or in Microsoft Publisher. In Microsoft Word, if you open the Margins tab in the Page Setup and select Book Fold in the Multiple Pages field you will be able to type up your recipe book in the order that you would like the final product to look. In Publisher just select a blank project in Booklet format. I am not familar with any other word processor or publishing programs, but I am sure the process would be similar. I hope this makes sense...feel free to contact me if you need more clarification...I can also send you my recipe book template that I use. Brandi brandi@bemaccounting.com Hi Brandi, Thank you for the instructions as not all may know about that function for book format. Robin

Hi Marci, That would be a great one to share in the newsletter since everyone is always asking for customized CE party cocktails and punches. Robin

Hello: I am interested in starting and having a cookie exchange. I live in Corona (Eastvale), CA. I am new to the area and do not know many people. If there is anyone else in this or the surrounding area (Norco, Mira Loma, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga), who may be interested in attending, having, or hosting a cookie exchange, I would love to hear from you. Thanks Hi Shelia, there's a Rancho Cucamonga on page 1 of this thread. This is page 6.

Hi Christie, I use the disposable roasting pans, too. They're sturdy, that's why I like them better than bakery boxes, which can be flimsy. They work well. Are you on my newsletter list? I just wrote about take away containers.
Thank you all, I love everyone's suggestions! Robin

Tonia, 10 dozen! LOL Good for you if they'll make that many. You said: Re: b/c some people were only truly meant to make chocolate chip...the stories I could tell you about some of their cookies..ugh. Suggestion: What about if you send these non-bakers some really simple crowd pleaser recipes like Short bread (3 ingredients) or Mexican Wedding Cakes? Everyone makes chocolate chip cookies on their own...that's why I am against what is my FAVORITE cookie for a CE. I'm sure there's a nice way you could suggest it.

Just wanted to say that I got an email that there is definitely a cookie party hook up in No. Cal. I'm really glad to hear of one success story... but there's 90 posts in this thread, anything else going on?

Hostesses - Use this thread to sign up by stating the date and time of your cookie party. The goal is to find a cookie swap buddy to link with and video teleconference your parties together! What can you do? It would be really fun for each of you to do a raffle. Instructions: 1) You'll email your video buddy before the party and submit the first names of all of your guests to each other. 2) You'll each print off the names and cut the names into an entry slips and place in a bowl or hat. 3) While your cameras are connected and both cookie parties with all guests, can see each other, take turns having someone draw a name from the hat. 4) Each party will then yell out the name of the name drawn from the other party. The other thing you can do, is take turns showing each party the others cookie table. Any other ideas? Get the free video software from AIM here: dashboard.aim.com/aimYou can just video drop in for 5 minutes or leave you cameras connected and random people can just walk up and have conversations. After all, it's free! Have fun!

I tried serving egg nog at several parties and no one ever touched it. Too filling, I guess. My girls go for the white wine and specialty drinks as that goes well with the types of appetizers I serve.
